Privacy Policy

In short

  • We use your information to run SewNQuilt for you: your projects, stash, measurements and settings.
  • We never sell your personal information.
  • Photos you add stay private to your account unless you choose to share them.
  • You can export or delete your account and data at any time, in the app or by email.

This Privacy Policy explains how SewNQuilt ("SewNQuilt", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the SewNQuilt: Sewing & Quilting app for iPhone and Android (the "App") and the website sewnquilt.com, including its free tools (the "Site"). Together we call these the "Services".

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address, and your name if you choose to add it. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the email address and name that the provider shares with us. You can also start as a guest without an account.
  • Your making data: projects, fabric stash entries, measurements, machine profiles, notes, saved calculations, settings and preferences.
  • Photos and files: photos of fabric, projects or seams, and PDF patterns you choose to add.
  • Ask Pip and Fit & Fix: the questions, photos and context you send to these helpers, and their answers.
  • Support messages: what you write to us at sewnquilt@orlero.com.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: app version, device model, operating system, language, approximate country derived from IP address, the screens you open and the buttons you tap, and how features are used (for example, which calculator was opened). In the App we may also record anonymous session replays to improve the design; every photo, image and text field is hidden in these recordings. You can switch usage analytics off at any time in Settings, Privacy.
  • Purchase data: subscription status, product, price, currency and renewal dates, provided by Apple or Google. We never receive your full card details.

The App does not collect precise location, contacts or health data. The camera and photo library are used only when you choose to take or add a photo. The Site's free tools run in your browser and the numbers you type are not sent to us.

SewNQuilt in ChatGPT and Claude

When you use SewNQuilt inside ChatGPT or Claude, the assistant sends our server only what a tool needs, such as a project idea, quilt measurements or the language you write in. We use it to answer that request and do not store it. We never receive your name, your account or your conversation. We count anonymous usage (which tool, which assistant, which language, whether it answered) to improve SewNQuilt. Your chats are handled by OpenAI or Anthropic under their own privacy policies.

2. How we use information

  • To provide the Services: saving and syncing your projects, stash and measurements across your devices, running calculators, opening patterns and answering Ask Pip and Fit & Fix requests.
  • To manage subscriptions and restore purchases.
  • To keep the Services secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
  • To understand which features makers love so we can improve them.
  • To reply to you and, if you opt in, to send you news and tips. You can opt out at any time.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising. We do not use your photos, projects or conversations to train third party AI models.

3. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)

We process personal data to perform our contract with you (providing the Services), on the basis of our legitimate interests (security, improving the Services, understanding how the App is used so we can improve it), with your consent where required (for example marketing emails), and to comply with legal obligations (for example tax records).

4. Service providers we share information with

We share information only with providers that help us run the Services, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only for our instructions:

  • Cloudflare: hosting, databases, file storage, content delivery, sign in code emails and AI processing for Ask Pip and Fit & Fix (Workers AI). AI requests are processed to generate answers and are not used to train models.
  • Apple and Google: sign in, in app purchases and push notifications.
  • RevenueCat: subscription status and receipts.
  • PostHog (EU hosting, Frankfurt): product analytics and session replays with photos and text hidden.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users or of SewNQuilt, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this Policy continues to apply.

5. International transfers

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK Addendum and equivalent safeguards.

6. Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your data from our live systems right away and from backups within 30 days. Purchase records that tax and accounting law requires are kept for up to 7 years, without your projects or photos. See how to delete your account.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You can edit most data directly in the App, export it from Settings and delete your account in Settings. For anything else, email sewnquilt@orlero.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. California residents have the rights described above under the CCPA and CPRA, and we do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.

8. Children

The Services are designed for adults and teens aged 13 and over (16 in the EEA where local law requires). We do not knowingly collect personal information from younger children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We protect data with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls and regular reviews. Keep your device and sign in method secure too.

10. The Site

sewnquilt.com uses no advertising cookies. We may use privacy friendly, cookieless measurement of page views. Your browser may store small preferences, such as your preferred units, on your own device.

11. Changes

We will post updates here and change the effective date. For material changes we will let you know in the App.
